Beatrice 'Mickie' Markel, 83,

(b. March 5, 1927 - d. July 24, 2010)

Beatrice "Mickie" Markel, 83 of Ashland went to be with her Lord and Savior Saturday, July 24, 2010, at Cleveland MetroHealth Medical Center.

On March 5, 1927, in Richland County, Mrs. markel was born to John "Blaine" and Yana (Smith) Forbes. She had been a homemaker and resident of Ashland County the past 30 years. Mrs. Markel was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Senior Class at Calvary Baptist and Topper Group at Mansfield Baptist Church.

On July 16, 1977, Mrs. Markel married Duff Markel, who preceded her in death on Sept. 6, 2009.

Mrs. Markel is surved by two sons, Gary (Angie) Stentz of Hayesville and Mike (Brenda) Stentz of Ashland; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jean (Conn) Tirey of Kentucky and Pat (Dave) Watson of Ashland, and a brother, Russell (Jan) Forbes of Ashland.

Mrs. Markel also was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, David and Dennis Stentz; three brothers; four sisters; and a grandson, Isaac, in 2001.

A service will be conducted 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church, 210 N. Davis Road, Ashland, with Pastor Harry Strachen officiating.

Internment will be in Adario Cemetery in Adario.

Friends may visit with the family 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2010, at Heyl Funeral Home, 227 Broad St., Ashland and one hour prior to the service at the church.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 210 N. Davis Road, Ashland,Ohio 44805.
